Timothy Rebbeck, Professor at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Encouraging NIH Funding Update: This week, the House voted to reject the cuts to the NIH budget that were proposed in the President’s FY2026 budget by recommending a $99 million increase, to $46.9 billion in FY2026. NCI would receive an increase of $48 million over its FY2025 funding level to $7.27 billion.
The Senate Appropriations Committee similarly proposed a $400 million increase (to $47.2 billion) for NIH in FY2026, including a $150 million increase to NCI (to $7.37 billion).
There’s still a long way to go but it’s encouraging to see bipartisan support in congress for medical research.”
