Tanja Spanic, Executive Director of Europa Donna Slovenia, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Seventeen years ago today, I heard the words: ‘It’s not OK, you have breast cancer.’
Looking back, it feels like time has flown by, and so much has happened along the way.
I know that if I were diagnosed today, my treatment would look quite different – and that actually makes me happy. Science has advanced tremendously in breast cancer over these years. Just this morning, during a meeting on a new clinical trial exploring ways to optimize surgical treatment, I couldn’t help but reflect on how privileged I am to have witnessed this progress and to live in a country where patients have access to so many treatment options.
Unfortunately, this is not the case everywhere. That’s why patient advocates, healthcare professionals, and policymakers, we all together still have an important mission ahead of us: to ensure that progress in science truly reaches every person who needs it.”
