Guillermo Chantada, President of the International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP), shared a post on LinkedIn:
“On my second day at São Paulo, I visited the Hospital Santa Marcelina, whose pediatric oncology unit is supported by TUCCA under the leadership of Sidnei Epelman and Neviçolino P de Carvalho Filho.
I was impressed by their comprehensive work in patient care, visited the support house and their hospice as well as their research facility at their university with cutting-edge resources supporting molecular diagnosis for brain tumors for every child that needs it, free for the patients. I was especially impressed by their support in transportation of children with cancer to their center as an effective way to improve compliance.
We also discussed research projects on retinoblastoma which will be done in association with the Outreach Program of the Barcelona Children’s Hospital Sant Joan de Déu. Such a nice time with friends, it is always good to see with my own eyes how much they have accomplished.”
