Yelak Biru, President and Chief Executive Officer at International Myeloma Foundation, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“On Thursday we launched our inagural 5-night, 6-day Iceland Cycling Expedition.
Our journey began with a visit to deCODE genetics headquarters and the iStopMM (Iceland Screens, Treats or Stops Myeloma Study) laboratories. Launched in 2016, iStopMM is a population-based screening study for early detection and intervention of myeloma.
This groundbreaking study boasts the highest participation rate of any clinical trial in a single nation! With over 80,000 individuals (54.2% of Iceland’s population over 40) consenting to be screened, iStopMM is paving the way for advancements in early detection and treatment of myeloma.
International Myeloma Foundation (IMF) is proud to be a seed and ongoing funder of this vital research.
A special thanks to our host, Dr. Sigurdur Yngvi Kristinsson
Stay connected with the IMF and follow the brave participants.”
