Schafer et al., published in JAMA Network.
“The striking annual percentage change (APC) for localized early onset Colorectal Cancer in the 45-49 age group after the lowering in age of screening from 50y to 45y.
Too many earlier onset CRC are still being missed in the 40-44y age group.
Default FIT testing or office sigmoidoscopy should be offered after 40y to everyone. Most of the non syndromic early onset cancers in the 40-44y age group are rectal cancers. Default FIT tests have a higher uptake than colonoscopy and cheaper.”
