“Can we treat resectable pancreatic cancer without surgery?
In a study of 25 patients with technically resectable PDAC who couldn’t undergo surgery, definitive ablative radiation therapy (A-RT) delivered:
- 2-year overall survival: 43.7%.
- Local progression rate: 20.8%.
- Minimal grade 3+ toxicity.
- Strong tumor control in older, frail patients.
A-RT may be a viable non-surgical option for localized pancreatic cancer—especially when surgery is high-risk or functionally debilitating.”
