“Steven Benyahia and colleagues from Moffitt Cancer Center report a retrospective analysis of 314 patients who underwent ovarian cancer surgery at a single institution.
Intraoperative blood transfusions and prolonged hospital stays (>3 days) were significantly associated with reduced survival following surgical debulking for ovarian cancer.
Transfusion-sparing strategies and enhanced recovery protocols should be actively considered by the surgical and perioperative teams for improving long-term survival outcomes in gynecologic oncology.”
