Emad Shash: New Framework to Improve the Full Breast Cancer Pathway

Emad Shash, Leading Cancer Researcher and Director at National Cancer Institute, Cairo University, shared on LinkedIn about a recent paper by Eduardo Cazap et al. published on ecancer Medical Science:

“Thrilled to share our latest publication in ecancer medical science:

‘Bridging gaps in breast cancer care: a Breast Cancer Care Quality Index (BCCQI).’

What’s new: BCCQI is a policy-to-practice framework co-created with global leaders to help countries measure and improve the full breast cancer pathway.

Highlights:

  • Aligned with WHO-GBCI
  • 4 dimensions, 10 targets, 23 indicators (e.g., stage at diagnosis, ≤60-day time-to-diagnosis, MDT access, survivorship plans, PROMs/PREMs)
  • Ready to embed in National Cancer Control Plans for baselines, benchmarking, and audits

Grateful to work with outstanding global key opinion leaders in the field Eduardo Cazap, Benjamin Anderson, Giuseppe Curigliano, Sandeep Sehdev, Fatima Cardoso, Ana Rita Gonzalez, Cheng-Har Yip, André Mattar, Yanin Chavarri-Guerra, Miriam Mutebi, Yongmei Yin, João Victor Rocha, Ilaria Lucibello and Namita Srivastava a shared mission to turn evidence into outcomes.

Looking forward for more partnerships to adapt and pilot BCCQI across diverse settings.”
