“We are excited to share our new publication on the sustainability of the Zero Abandonment cash transfer pilot programme in Malawi—providing important local evidence and relevant implementation research.
Sustainability of interventions is key to ensuring lasting impact on health. Four years after the initial funding ended, this cash transfer programme remained active, with sustained reductions in treatment abandonment. We also describe perceived barriers and facilitators to sustainability.
So yes—sustainability of cash transfers is possible. And yes—continued efforts and research are needed to identify key determinants, enhance sustainability, and inform future scale-up.
A heartfelt thank you to our colleagues, families, and partners who made this work possible. Together, we continue to move towards a future where no child is left behind.”
