The Nordic Radiotherapy Diploma Programme (NORTHDIP) for Clinical Oncologists by ESTRO

Mar 1 • 12:00 AM - Mar 5 • 12:00 AM
ESTRO Webinar Series

The Nordic Radiotherapy Diploma Programme (NORTHDIP) for Clinical Oncologists by ESTRO will be going on for two years from March 2025 to November 2026.

The Nordic Radiotherapy Diploma Programme (NORTHDIP) is a two-year advanced education initiative designed for clinical oncologists across the Nordic countries: Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. The programme addresses the need for supplementary radiotherapy training for oncologists who specialize in radiotherapy after their clinical oncology education.

The goal of NORTHDIP is to enhance radiotherapy skills and foster collaboration among Nordic clinical oncologists, ultimately advancing expertise in the region and promoting collaborative research and development in radiotherapy.

The programme’s content is aligned with ESTRO’s core curriculum for radiation oncologists and covers a variety of advanced topics:

  • Sweden 2024: Advanced radiophysics, dose planning, organs-at-risk constraints, and advanced technologies.
  • Norway 2025: Radiobiology, benign diseases, and palliative care.
  • Finland 2025: Reirradiation, stereotactic radiotherapy, and BNCT (Boron Neutron Capture Therapy).
  • Denmark 2026: Adaptive radiotherapy and imaging (CBCT, dual-energy CT, PET-CT, MRI), including the integration of proton and MR-Linac therapy.
  • Iceland 2026: Nordic research protocols, including the design of clinical trials for collaborative Nordic implementation and shared patient recruitment.
