Emily Smith Tonorezo: Back to My Roots, Supporting Cancer Survivors at Weill Cornell Medicine

Emily Smith Tonorezos, Survivorship clinician and Investigator at Weill Cornell Medicine, shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper she co-authored with colleagues published in Cancer:

“After 5 incredibly fulfilling and rewarding years as Director of the National Cancer Institute’s Office of Cancer Survivorship, I have stepped down. I am getting back to my roots by focusing on taking care of cancer survivors at Weill Cornell Medicine.

Thank you to everyone who reacted to my recent change in position. I encourage you to check out our recent paper, ‘Defining Concepts in Cancer Survivorship.’

Survivor advocates, who saw the creation of OCS as a culmination of their efforts, also started a movement in calling themselves cancer survivors. For cancer survivors, advocates, and researchers, OCS has served as the lead in developing a taxonomy of key concepts related to cancer survivorship.”
