“What keeps cancer center directors up at night?
In the latest Cancer Letter Podcast, Drs. Mark Evers (UK Markey) and Steven Libutti (Rutgers) discuss rising concerns over:
- Medicaid cuts and access to care
- Junior faculty morale
- Uncertainty around NCI funding
‘Medicaid expansion helped us reach underserved patients in Appalachia – I worry we’ll lose that.’ – M. Evers.
“Our mission depends on Medicaid. Uncertainty there is what keeps me up.” – S. Libutti.
Still, both remain hopeful:
‘We’re talking about cures I never thought I’d see.’ – Evers.
‘There’s strong bipartisan support – we’ll ride out this storm.’ – Libutti.”
