“Voice of the families, post 35 Ebirhim and his father
Ebirhim Aba Reshad, is a 10 year old boy. He was referred to Jimma University Hospital after unsuccessful treatment at a private hospital in Jimma. Initially, the father received financial assistance from Ebirhim school’s teachers to help him reach the health center, along with a supportive letter from the local leader to facilitate his journey to the hospital.
Upon arrival at the hospital’s pediatric oncology unit, necessary investigations were conducted, and Ebirhim was diagnosed with Lymphoblastic Lymphoma (LBL). The father is a farmer, currently, he is caring for his ill child at the hospital. ‘Childhood cancer affects the whole family in different aspects’ said the father in a conversation with the counselling team.
Ebirhim is currently in the consolidation phase of treatment, but he is clinically stable.
Appropriate consent was given.”
