Terisa Tamang, Founder, President and Counselor of Dhairya Cancer Foundation, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“It was powerful to see organizations like UNICEF, Dhairya Cancer Foundation, Antardristi, and many others come together for this important discussion.
Mental health remains one of the most neglected and stigmatized issues in Nepal. While there are many NGOs, INGOs, and passionate groups working tirelessly in this field, lasting change still requires stronger government commitment and investment.
To understand the scale of the challenge: Nepal has fewer than 200 psychiatrists and around 100 clinical psychologists for nearly 30 million people. Access to care remains extremely limited, especially outside major cities.
These discussions are a reminder that mental health must become a shared national priority, supported by research, collaboration, and most importantly, government action.”
