Rob Winn, Director at VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center, shared on LinkedIn:
“Day two on Capitol Hill was all about voices that matter most – those of survivors and advocates.
I had the honor of being joined by Becky Massey, Massey Advisory Board Chair, advocate, and cancer survivor; Amy Williams, Vice Chair of the Massey Advisory Board; and Mary Simmons, a dedicated cancer advocate and survivor, and her daughter, Makayla Simmons.
Together, we met with lawmakers, including Congressman Bobby Scott, representative of Virginia’s 3rd District, and shared one powerful message: cancer research saves lives.
Their stories are living proof of why we must continue to fight for strong federal investment in cancer research, because behind every data point is a person, a family, a future.
Grateful for their strength, leadership, and the passion they bring to this mission. This is what One Team, One Fight truly looks like.”
