“Can cancer-associated fibroblasts stimulate the immune system?
While some fibroblasts promote tumor growth, a recent study describes a population of antigen presenting cancer-associated fibroblasts in gastric cancer patients capable of stimulating T cells to kill cancer cells.
This highlights the heterogeneity of the tumor microenvironment and may lead to strategies to enhance this immune stimulating fibroblast population to improve cancer immunotherapy.
Here’s a link to the full study”
