“The 10th Annual Fenton Schaffner Lectureship was held on June 18, 2025, at Mount Sinai. This year’s honoree was Gyongyi Szabo PhD, Mitchell T. Rabkin, MD Chair, Professor of Medicine, and Faculty Dean at Harvard Medical School, and Chief Academic Officer at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Beth Israel Lahey Health.
Dr. Szabo received the award from Meena Bansal, System Chief of the Division of Liver Diseases. Dr. Bansal also delivered a special presentation to the family of the late Frank Klion, honoring his leadership and lasting contributions to the Division. The lectureship commemorates Dr. Fenton Schaffner (1920–2000), the founding Chief of the Division of Liver Diseases, whose legacy shaped Mount Sinai into a leading center for hepatology education and research.”
