“Detection of clinically significant prostate cancer at biopsy? What is the impact of prostate imaging quality (PI-QUAL)
As the year turns, the rhythm changes.
Let´s use it for extra reading time.
Today I am happy to highlight you one of my personal highlight EJR papers on prostate MRI.
Essentials:
1. Prostate MRI scan quality as defined by PI-QUAL scores may have an impact on the diagnostic accuracy of the MRI-biopsy diagnostic pathway.
2. A higher number of false positive biopsy referrals were observed for mpMRI scans of suboptimal quality and a lower PPV for clinically significant prostate cancers.
3. These findings support the importance of adequate quality control on MRI scan acquisition following PI-RADS guidelines.
4. Standardized image quality evaluation and reporting in routine clinical practice using PI-QUAL scores is crucial.
Congratulations to the authors.”
