Mahdi Sheikh, Scientist at International Agency for Research on Cancer / World Health Organization, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“This week we launched a joint call to action ‘5 Ways to Reduce Cancer Care Inequalities in Europe‘ at the European Parliament in Brussels.
It was inspiring to see researchers, policymakers, patient advocates, private sector leaders, and media representatives come together to call for translating evidence and innovation into tangible policies to reduce cancer care inequalities across Europe.
Let’s remember Tobacco Smoking remains the main driver of Cancer in Europe, causing 1 in every 4 cases, and is a major contributor to inequalities in cancer care, as continued smoking worsens survival and increases treatment failure.
A big thank you to Cancer Patients Europe – CPE for the kind invitation, and to MEP Tomislav Sokol for hosting us.
