Elias Melly, Chief Executive Officer at National Cancer Institute of Kenya, shared a post on X:
“I was privileged to attend the IAEA Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Science, Technology, and Applications in Vienna, Austria. During the conference, I emphasized Kenya’s strong commitment to leveraging nuclear technology for advancements in healthcare, particularly in the field of cancer care.
I highlighted the importance of healthcare financing and prioritization within the Ministry of Health to ensure that patients can access cutting-edge treatments and technologies.
Additionally, I stressed the need for robust human resource capacity building to support the effective utilization of nuclear medicine and radiotherapy.
To ensure the uninterrupted delivery of cancer care services, I emphasized the critical role of health commodity security, particularly in securing a consistent supply of essential medical supplies, including radioisotopes.
By investing in these areas, Kenya aims to strengthen its healthcare system and provide world-class cancer care to its citizens.”
