“Achieving big milestones with the Philippine Cervical Cancer Elimination Operational Plan Workshop!
The workshop, organised by APAC Women’s Cancer Coalition and Jhpiego under the leadership of the DOH, focused on developing regional execution plans to be implemented in three phases between 2025 and 2028.
These plans encompass the full continuum of care – ranging from primary prevention and health promotion to early detection, treatment, and management. This initiative aligns with the WHO global strategy to eliminate cervical cancer, guided by the 90–70–90 targets for 2030:
- 90% of girls fully vaccinated with the HPV vaccine by age 15.
- 70% of women screened with a high-performance test by age 35 and again by age 45.
- 90% of women identified with cervical disease receiving treatment (90% of women with pre-cancer treated, and 90% of women with invasive cancer managed)
By achieving the set targets, the initiative aims to significantly reduce the incidence and mortality rates of cervical cancer in the Philippines. This would pave the way for a cervical cancer-free future in the Philippines.”
