Sendurai Mani, Associate Director of Translational Oncology at Legorreta Cancer Center, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Cancer stem cells drive metastasis, the development of resistance to treatments, and tumor recurrence.
During my postdoc, I proposed and demonstrated an innovative hypothesis: that cancer can generate its own stem-like cells by reactivating a dormant embryonic program – epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT).
This video shows my postdoctoral mentor, Dr. Robert Weinberg, talking about this research in a seminar.”
