Baylee Ferguson, Associate Director of Development at the American Cancer Society, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“This week I am celebrating 5 years of fighting cancer with the American Cancer Society. Looking back, I had no idea what I was in for. I didn’t understand how volunteers worked, how to fundraise, or the magnitude of the important work being done by ACS.
I am so thankful to have joined the ACS team and learned from some of the very best and brightest minds in the world of non-profits and cancer research.
In honor of 5 years, here are 5 things you, your friends and family can do to help lower your risk of being diagnosed with cancer:
- Understand your risk with Cancer Risk 360.
- Learn how to do a Skin Self-Exam (and always wear sunscreen).
- Pay attention to the foods you’re putting in your body and how often you are/aren’t exercising.
- Understand your genetic risk.
- Understand environmental causes of cancer.”
