Aparna Parikh, GI oncologist at Massachusetts General Hospital and Associate Professor at the Harvard Medical School, shared a post on LinkedIn by Senior Advisor of Access to Medicines at UICC, adding:
“We still have a long way to go to achieve equitable access to cancer care across the continuum.
At the heart of every cancer discussion, we must ask: How are we going to get this to the 70% + of the world where the disease burden is highest, but access is the most limited?
Over the years, I’ve been told that focusing on access in resource-constrained settings is a distraction. But I believe the opposite: if we center our work around the places with the fewest resources, we push ourselves toward solutions that lead to better cancer care for everyone.
Equity isn’t the side story – it’s the main narrative.
Couldn’t be more excited to have the conversation with this group of people culminating a year of conversations with industry executives around their access strategies.”
