American Cancer Society shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Our condolences to Dr. Harmon J. Eyre’s family and friends, a transformative leader in the fight against cancer.
For 15 years, Dr. Eyre served as Chief Medical Officer at the American Cancer Society, after over two decades as a dedicated volunteer—including national volunteer president in 1988. His leadership and vision helped shape ACS’s first enterprise-wide strategic plan to guide groundbreaking research efforts and strengthened our advocacy and community impact.
He also helped convene the National Dialogue on Cancer (later known as C-Change) and transformed our research priorities to better support early-career investigators and behavioral science. His legacy lives on in the programs, partnerships, and progress he helped build, influencing the way we are working to help end cancer as we know it for everyone.”
