Raymond Chan, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) at Flinders University, shared the following on LinkedIn:
“Patient experience of care with their health professionals is significantly associated with Financial Toxicity especially on cancer patients’ “worry about paying medical bills”, “family’s financial stability”, and “keeping job/income because of cancer”.
30% reported material FinTox, 35% for psychological FT, & 27% for behavioral FT. Significantly lower FT when HCPs listened, showed them respect, and spent enough time with them.
SOUND SIMPLE, but is it happening often enough?”
